Taxonomy – The CRM/MarTech Stack
Surely you have seen some version of this image. When I first saw it, I had already been writing about these solutions for nearly 30 years. But it was still a major wakeup call. I was overlooking a lot of interesting solutions and I had failed to realize just how many new categories there were. So, I got to work expanding my coverage of all of this new stuff!
To begin exploring things, just click that blue button, “Map the Stack!” to the right. This is my “clickable” representation of all (Most all!) of the CRM solutions depicted in the image above. Pick any of the pages and you will see a list of the solutions in that category. As you will see, each line features a single solution. The logo on the far left is a clickable link that will take you to that solution’s home page. If the company has cooperated with my review process, the clickable link in the center column will take you to my Software SnapShot for that solution. If I have already published my complete in-depth review as an Amazon Kindle book, the link in the far right column will take you to that page.
I use a broad definition of CRM – any use of technology that helps you take better care of your customers and sell more now!
I know, that covers a lot of ground! So, we do need a logical way to organize solutions to make meaningful comparisons. I developed this taxonomy by thinking groups within your organization engage with prospects and customers to help them move through your unique customer relationship life cycle. Then, there are specific tasks or challenges that are performed along the way. The ever-creative developer in the CRM industry has provided solutions to help with many of these tasks.
