About the Product:
For the medium sized Custom or Model Option builder it is becoming increasingly important to close the gaps between different functions in the company, you may even have reached the level where different functions are performed in different departments. Internal communication controlled by standard workflow is critical. There are also significant benefits available in extending the reach of your “automatic” communication to your trades utilizing a vendor web portal. A flexible process is always key for builders that allow client customization to their homes. It is important that the software solution you deploy to replace manual processes or a lesser system can provide that flexibility and at the same time offer the benefits of automation and information sharing. This is whereHomeFront excels!
Communication / Process
Whether you are pricing a custom home, a model plan with predefined options or a custom option, information has to be communicated between sales and Estimating. HomeFront has built in workflow to manage the internal 2 way workflow that comes with Standard selections, Custom Options and Change Orders. Requests from Sales for custom pricing gets queued up for Estimating to complete and publish pricing with specs back to Sales, of course both processes has ability to notify via E-mail or Dashboard reporting. Price management of Models and standard options are easily maintained by estimating price publishing from Estimating to sales for models and predefined options. Both processes are supported by strong sticks and bricks type estimating and a vendor quote management system. Tools for Margin analysis are available for both sales and estimating. If you are a true custom builder you may also need to provide multiple quotes with varying levels of detail to the prospective buyer. HomeFront can do it, and also allow you to finalize the quote to create a job with budgets and expected PO’s ready to go.
HomeFront integrates to Quickbooks, Masterbuilder and Timberline Office. At this level we often find that Quickbooks can still do the trick since the Management of your business outside of accounting would be handled in HomeFront . If you find that Quickbooks is no longer sufficient then we recommend a move into Sage Masterbuilder. It’s also nice to know that
Estimating can easily publish new models and options or modify sales pricing based on ever changing vendor pricing. A controlled process facilitates sales agents’ pricing requests for custom changes. Built in bid management can be enhanced by activating the vendor portal allowing vendors to supply their pricing online. The online portal also allows communication of PO’s, schedules, drawings, change orders and scheduling notifications to the vendor.
